Newest movie and video game release

Hi all!

First off..."Happy Halloween to everyone!!!! My second fav holiday behind Christmas.

Just a quick update on some new releases I worked on that hopefully you will find pretty fun and cool. With the Halloween season upon us, now is a good time to go check out my newest movie "Sorority Row". It's a pretty fun film. Scary and is doing pretty well at the box office. Here's the link to the official site - http://www.thetapi-ordie.com/.

When you are a pro illustrator, the path to success lies in your ability to be a chameleon and change gears on the fly, so on a more lighthearted humorous note, also just released is Pixar's "Cars Race o' Rama" video game for all video game platforms. Published by THQ and my buddies at Incinerator Studios. Here's the official site - http://www.thq.com/us/game/show/5325/Cars%20Race-O-Rama. It was a really fun project and I always enjoy working with them. Of course the first was "Spongebob Squarepants Nicktoons: in Globs of Doom" game last year.

I have a lot of stuff in the works and will post more as I can (legally :-))

Have fun trick or treating with the kids!!

New internet radio interview

Hi all,

It's been a while since I've blogged anything so I thought an update was in order. I have moved to Atlanta for a while and will be based here for the forseeable future. I would like to move back to the Wilmington, NC area eventually but we will just have to see how things go.

In the meantime I just wrapped up another interview. This one an internet talk radio show "123film" on Blogtalkradio. Here's the link if you want to check it out - http://www.blogtalkradio.com/123-Film/2009/07/08/Craig-Gilmore-Concept-Illustrator.
My good friend Sam Heer hosts the show and she does a fine job in covering all aspects of the film making industry and has a lot of great guests on the show. You should check it out and listen when you can. It's on every Friday at 12pm PST.

As far as new projects, I just finished working on the tv show "Army Wives" for ABC/Lifetime as well as a feature film for Reliant pictures called "Main Street" which should be out in the near future. Both where a great time and I enjoyed working with the crew.

I haven't had a lot of time to do much new illustration over the last few weeks and am just now getting back into the work groove. I have been talking to some productions here in the Altnata area so hoping I can attach to one of them soon.

Since I don't have any new art to show right now I'm posting a cutscene of storyboards I did for THQ Games on the "Spongebob Squarepants and Nicktoons: Globs of Doom" game. Hope you enjoy!

Updates and new blog!

Hi all,

Just wanted to fill in on the goings on around here. With the economy in the shape it is, work has been slower than normal, but I'm still getting work to I look at it as my glass is half full and not empty. I just finished jobs for a couple of new advertising clients and storyboarded some big commercials for them coming out soon.

Also, I have been working back in the comic book medium working on some new samples requested by one of the major publishers. I'm posting a piece (of 6 pages) here. If you want to see the rest of them please go over to my official webside and look under the comics section. I'm really excited to be doing comics again and hope to have some new published work again soon. Once that happens I'll be doing the convention circuit to promote with fans and sign copies. I'll keep you posted on that.

I've been working in Google "Sketch Up" a bit lately to brush op on my 3d skills so that I can be even more valuable to hollywood productions. 3d skills are almost a necessity these days and since I have 10 years of 3d experience (Maya, 3D Studio Max, Motion builder etc.) while working on video games, it's best to not let them get rusty.

Speaking of games, I'm in negotiations now with another game company to do some more illustration on a contractual basis. I'm very excited about working with this new company and the project will be a blast!

Lastly, I wanted to let everyone know that I've been asked to be an official advisor of my trade with Pavaline Studios in New York. They will be turning out some fantastic motion picture projects coming up so please visit my site with them regularly at http://blogs.pavaline.com/cgilmore/. I will be updating it on a monthly basis and covering Storyboarding and conceptual illustration.

I think that's it for now but enjoy the new illustration and make sure to keep checking my blogs for more news and upcoming projects!

2008 year end review

Well it's time for my annual year end review. This one will be shorter than most as 2008 was a year of challenges professionally and personally, some of which are still being sorted out going ito 2009. First off, I don't make new years resolutions because let's face it, you never really meet them so why dissapoint. However I do have 'goals' that I want to work to acheive. It's better to set smaller short term goals that you can acheive than big overblown new years resolutions that inevitably will fail. So having said that....

Work wise, I was on the west coast living and working like a gypsy for about 8 months, and finding some successes but still having some work to do out there that I will hopefully accomplish soon. Of course keeping the house and bills paid here in NC and working in California was a hard thing to do. However, I had many new opportunities to work on some really cool projects this year and made some great new clients. I also had the chance to with some old friends from my earlier video game days, and I am really happy to re-kindle those frindships. I moved around so much over the years that I lost touch with some of them and am glad we got back in contact and are working togeather again on occasion. Twice this year on different projects. I am still persuing new movie projects, but SAG continues to make our lives as crew members hell, in their contract negotiations. Please settle his so everyone can get back to work and support their families. There is a lot of suffering families out there because of your greed. You act, you love acting, you have made acting your career. Enjoy your job, and get back to work becuase many people work hard day in and day out and hate their jobs. You are blessed that you can make money doing what you love. It's a simple concept really, so please settle the contract negotiations. I know I've personally taken a big hit from all of this. You are effecting not only the movie and tv industry but ANY industry that uses actors be it video games, advertising, voice over work for animation etc. Put it to bed already.

One the personal side of my life (which I rarely talk about on my blog but having such a strong impact on my life in 2008, deserves a blurb I guess) not much to say about 2008. At least not much good right now unfortunately. I will not go into any specifics because I would rather these aspects of 2008 fade away from memory. I consider 2008 a 'lost year' in many ways. I have done a lot of praying, and hoping, and patiently persisting through some very turbulent times. I am hopeful that 2009 will be a year of healing and communication, spiritual and personal growth with my loved ones. And of course professional growth is always a pleasure. I simply hope.

So as the year comes to a close, be good to yourself and to others, and it will come back to you. I hope that those reading this have a great 2009 filled with love, friendship, and successes in your personal persuits and that you attain your goals. Happy new year!
