2008 year end review

Well it's time for my annual year end review. This one will be shorter than most as 2008 was a year of challenges professionally and personally, some of which are still being sorted out going ito 2009. First off, I don't make new years resolutions because let's face it, you never really meet them so why dissapoint. However I do have 'goals' that I want to work to acheive. It's better to set smaller short term goals that you can acheive than big overblown new years resolutions that inevitably will fail. So having said that....

Work wise, I was on the west coast living and working like a gypsy for about 8 months, and finding some successes but still having some work to do out there that I will hopefully accomplish soon. Of course keeping the house and bills paid here in NC and working in California was a hard thing to do. However, I had many new opportunities to work on some really cool projects this year and made some great new clients. I also had the chance to with some old friends from my earlier video game days, and I am really happy to re-kindle those frindships. I moved around so much over the years that I lost touch with some of them and am glad we got back in contact and are working togeather again on occasion. Twice this year on different projects. I am still persuing new movie projects, but SAG continues to make our lives as crew members hell, in their contract negotiations. Please settle his so everyone can get back to work and support their families. There is a lot of suffering families out there because of your greed. You act, you love acting, you have made acting your career. Enjoy your job, and get back to work becuase many people work hard day in and day out and hate their jobs. You are blessed that you can make money doing what you love. It's a simple concept really, so please settle the contract negotiations. I know I've personally taken a big hit from all of this. You are effecting not only the movie and tv industry but ANY industry that uses actors be it video games, advertising, voice over work for animation etc. Put it to bed already.

One the personal side of my life (which I rarely talk about on my blog but having such a strong impact on my life in 2008, deserves a blurb I guess) not much to say about 2008. At least not much good right now unfortunately. I will not go into any specifics because I would rather these aspects of 2008 fade away from memory. I consider 2008 a 'lost year' in many ways. I have done a lot of praying, and hoping, and patiently persisting through some very turbulent times. I am hopeful that 2009 will be a year of healing and communication, spiritual and personal growth with my loved ones. And of course professional growth is always a pleasure. I simply hope.

So as the year comes to a close, be good to yourself and to others, and it will come back to you. I hope that those reading this have a great 2009 filled with love, friendship, and successes in your personal persuits and that you attain your goals. Happy new year!
